In the past months, the job market has continuously fluctuated. Companies say they are adding more jobs, but the jobless rate is still almost stagnant. With the holidays approaching and little to no hope insight, those unemployed are tempted to abandon their search until after the beginning of the year.
Unemployed think they don't have the time to continue their hunt. The overwhelming feeling of upcoming parties, in-town family and friends, and gift shopping almost completely eliminates the desire of finding a job. Siting in front of a computer for hours looking for jobs seems like a waste a valuable time. But putting it on the back burner is not the solution.
However, it could help your chances of finding that job in 2011.
The holidays eliminate a good portion of usually large competition. With limited number of resumes, employers are more open solid, standout candidates. Employers, during the holidays, also realize the candidates seriousness and desire to secure a job.
But with the holidays shortening time companies devote to end of the year work make hiring less of a priority?
WRONG!
According to CareerBuilder, the holiday season, between November and December, is the best time to search and apply for jobs. With the year coming to an end, companies are looking to jump start the business for next year.
One thing for job seekers to remember - the new year brings new budgets. Companies are more open to hiring prior to or at the beginning of the year because they have that security and positions to fill.
